Today in class we learned about Greece:
- Democracy was created in Athens Greece
- Alexander the great spread Greek culture throughout much of Asia
-Athens built and empire
- Greek culture is based on the interaction of the mycenaean, Minoan and Dorian cultures
-The seeds of much western heritage were built during this time
- Rugged mountains covered 3/4 of Greece main land
- The sea shaped Greece and impacted it
- The temperature was 48 degrees in the winter and 80 in the summer
- Trade and war sparked interaction with Minoans
- The trojan war between Mycenaeans and Troy occured in 1200 B.C
- The Dorians rise as a result of Trojan war
- Homer wrote epics about the different events in Greece
- They developed a rich set of myths due to their polytheistic belief in gods
